Job Description

The mission of the College of Nursing (CON) at the University of Central Florida is to prepare nurse leaders and patient advocates through excellence in education, research and service. The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida announces a national search for the associate dean of Graduate Affairs.

The associate dean for Graduate Affairs provides administrative leadership, oversight, and coordination of graduate programs and reports directly to the dean. The primary functions of this position include the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Ph.D., DNP and MSN programs in the College of Nursing.

The responsibilities of this position include:
• Providing oversight of the Ph.D., DNP and MSN programs, including planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
• Overseeing academic offerings and faculty workload to ensure quality and consistency across programs.
• Offering oversight to assure compliance with university policies and requirements of external agencies.
• Providing leadership in accreditation, program approval, and evaluation.
• Collaborating with CON faculty and the graduate curriculum committee in reviewing, modifying, enhancing, and managing of the graduate programs.
• Providing leadership in curriculum development.
• Taking part in the decision making in regards to the management of resources related to graduate programs.
• Serving as a resource to committees of the College of Nursing.
• Participating in scholarly and professional activities.
• Facilitating community partnerships.
• Participating in student and faculty recruitment and retention in accordance with UCF policy.
• Providing academic counseling and conflict resolution for graduate students.
• Evaluating faculty in accordance with UCF policies.
• Fostering a healthy work environment.
• Teaching selected courses in area of expertise.
• Maintaining a program of research.
• Serving as designee representing the dean as requested.
• Completing other assignments as requested by the dean.

Position Minimum Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution. Either the master’s or doctoral degree must be in nursing.
• Prior teaching and leadership/administrative expertise in a baccalaureate or higher degree program.
• Eligible for appointment at the associate professor rank with tenure.
• Established program of research.
• Eligible for RN licensure in the state of Florida.


• Experience in writing research and/or program grant proposals.
• Eligible for appointment at the professor rank with tenure.
• Sustained record of scholarship and extramural funding.
• Progressive leadership and administrative experience in nursing education.
