Job Description

The University of Central Florida (UCF), College of Medicine Faculty Practice at UCF Health in Orlando, FL is seeking general and subspecialist gastroenterologists at the assistant, associate, or full professor academic rank. Applicants should be exceptional clinicians who wish to spend the majority of their time practicing in an outpatient setting. These positions involve delivering high quality, value-based, team-based outpatient care with opportunities for clinical research as well as teaching. Applicants need to have demonstrated outstanding clinical practice as well as a high level of communication, collaboration and professionalism.

UCF has grown to be the nation’s second largest university and has demonstrated particular excellence in technology, science, and simulation. The College of Medicine (COM) received full LCME-accreditation in 2013. The medical campus is located at Lake Nona, serving as an anchor to the 500 acre “Medical City”, which is rapidly growing to include hospitals, clinics, and research institutes. The college also includes undergraduate and various graduate programs in biomedical sciences and biotechnology.

The success of the multispecialty faculty practice clinic, UCF Health, has led to further growth and expansion to a second state-of-the-art facility. There is the availability of on-site imaging, opportunities for participation in clinical trials and collaborative work on translational investigations with COM basic scientists.

Position Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school. Candidates must be eligible for licensure or actively licensed to practice in the state of Florida. They must be boarded or board eligible in the specialty of gastroenterology upon completion of training. Board certification would be expected within two (2) years of completion of training.

Preferences

The preferred candidates will have specialized training and extensive clinical experience in caring for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, as well as have specific training and considerable clinical experience in the micro- and macro-nutritional aspects of gastrointestinal diseases. Particular interest in celiac other gluten-related disorders is desired. Peer-reviewed publications in the discipline of gastroenterology, and inflammatory bowel disease in particular are also preferred, as is experience in research trials concerning inflammatory bowel disorders.

Special Conditions

Applicants will also be considered for position numbers 36405 and 39323. There are opportunities available for two general gastroenterologists devoted to patient care and one specialist.
