Job Description

The research associate will conduct research in the field of computer vision, machine learning and data mining. The assignment will be to work on multiple projects involving computer vision research. In particular, involvement in research in visual surveillance, including the areas of motion analysis; moving target detection, tracking and classification; action, event and activity recognition; and deep learning. Responsibilities include devising novel algorithms for solving computer vision problems relevant to crowd data (i.e., counting, detection, tracking, action and behavior recognition, etc. in crowd images and videos). The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate capability and experience in this area. The selected candidate will also conduct novel research for presentation/publication in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals; devise and test new methods, and demonstrate their usefulness in solving specific problems; and prepare manuscripts for submission to publication venues.

Position Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Data Mining or a closely related field from an accredited institution (foreign equivalent acceptable), and one year of relevant work experience.


-A track record of peer-reviewed journal/conference publications in computer vision, machine learning, data mining, or a related field,
-Strong programming skills in C, C++, MATLAB, and knowledge of computer vision and image processing toolkits like open CV,
-Knowledge of commonly used features in computer vision/image processing, and algorithms for object tracking, segmentation and classification.

Special Conditions

This is a contract and grants (C&G) position under the Center for Research in Computer Vision and is contingent upon available funding.
