Job Description

Provides primary sports medicine care to the University of Central Florida (UCF) non-scholarship students athlete population. Such care will be consistent with standards outlined by the American College of Sports Medicine and will include those diagnose and conditions which are relevant to Sports Medicine.

Provide primary sports medicine care to the scholarship athletes of UCF. Duties and responsibilities will also include providing consultation for mass physical exams. As with primary care responsibilities, all such care will conform to practice standards outlined by the American College of Sports Medicine. Will act as liaison between the UCF Head Athletic trainer and Student Health Services.

Provide ongoing medical education opportunities for Health Center staff which will include lectures; supervising residents, medical students and other health professionals in training. These efforts will ensure that the general medical staff is up to date with widely accepted best practices in Sports Medicine.
Provides consultation to UCF Recreational and Wellness Athletic Trainers. This responsibility includes development of policy and procedures which expedites care and treatment of students needing referral from those Athletic Trainers. Also may include providing care for those students and advice to trainers regarding best practices.
Assists in the development and direction of established and new programs in the department by individual recommendations, committee membership and staff meetings. The UCF Student Health Service Sports Medicine physician will keep current with the general medicine trends and issues affecting UCF athletes. This individual is expected to assist the Medical Director in detecting Sport Medicine issues or practice patterns which are in need of improvement or refinement and developing interventions to rectify those situations.

Provide primary health care to patients at the UCF Health Center as designated by the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Associate Director of Clinical Services and/or designee.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes plus four years of appropriate experience. Completion of residency program may substitute for the required experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Board Certified – Family Medicine/Internal Medicine.

Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine or CAQ Eligible.

Experience working with Division 1 College Athletics.

Experience working within a Student Health Center.

Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

Special Conditions

Anticipated salary $123,297 to $170,000 commensurate with education and experience.

The selected candidate must submit to the hiring department a copy of the Florida Medical State Licensure prior to the date of hire or the offer may be retracted. The selected candidate may not start employment until a current Florida State Medical license is provided to the hiring department.
