Job Description

The Venture Accelerator Program Associate provides support for the commercialization, growth and development of University inventions, new spinout companies, Central Florida entrepreneurs and selected other Venture Accelerator clients. Activities will include logistical support for Venture Accelerator and UCF Office of Research & Commercialization (ORC) entrepreneurship programs in addition to conducting evaluation of the the market, business and technology capabilities of client companies and entrepreneurs.

• Prepares market assessments for University technologies with commercial potential, University spinout companies and selected Venture Accelerator clients, including evaluation of market potential and likely commercialization paths.

• Utilize the Business Model Canvas to provide and support strategic coaching provided to client companies.

• Learning about and discussing different types of technologies from a business standpoint as it relates to various Venture Accelerator client companies and broader ORC programs and initiatives.

• Maintaining and enhancing systems used for the documentation and reporting of activities and services performed for client companies and associated programs in the various systems utilized including, but not limited to: shared internal Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, Airtable, Trello, Constant Contact and others as necessary.

• Assists Venture Accelerator Associate and Assistant Directors with the administration and delivery of services related to special projects and programs (UCF Mentor Network, I-Corps Sites, Megawatt Ventures and others). This may include client focused activities and/or organizational activities such as logistics leading up to and during program events, marketing & recruitment of participants and other necessary items.

• Support the creation and submission of quarterly, annual and closeout reports for various UCF funded entrepreneurship programs supported by the Venture Accelerator. This includes collecting participant data, writing initial drafts of reports and assisting with report submission.

• Under the direction of Venture Accelerator staff and leadership, provide assistance to client companies who are seeking funding from grant (SBIR/STTR and other state or federal opportunities), equity (Angel or VC investors), crowdfunding (Kickstarter, etc.) or other sources.

• Assist Venture Accelerator staff and leadership in the writing and organization of grant proposals to further fund existing programs and/or the creation of new assets/accelerators programs.

• Assist with the recruitment of client companies through in-person and online marketing activities. This may include attending events in the entrepreneur community and maintaining an online presence for the Venture Accelerator through social media, email newsletters and websites for the Venture Accelerator or the various programs it supports.

• Support the Venture Accelerator in interfacing with ORC units (Technology Transfer, Business Incubation Program, etc.) in support of the Central Florida entrepreneurial ecosystem.

• Additional operational activities under the direction of the Associate and Assistant Director’s required to administer and maintain ORC entrepreneurial programs and efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements
Preferences

Advanced degree in business or engineering preferred.

Familiarity with the Business Model Canvas and Lean Startup methodology.

Previous experience with entrepreneurship.

Previous experience in the use of social media tools.

Bilingual or multilingual applicants a plus.
