Job Description

The selected candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers focused on developing a SMART-Cities mini-cluster charged with pursuing extramural funding to support high-quality research. The faculty member’s academic home will be the Rosen College of Hospitality Management—one of the leading colleges of its kind in the world and the editorial home of the International Journal of Hospitality Management, The International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and the Journal of Destination Marketing and Management. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across the University of Central Florida (UCF) focusing on SMART-Cities.

Position Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D., by the time of appointment, from an accredited institution in SMART-Tourism, Travel and Tourism Technologies, Destination Management, Destination Marketing, Transportation, Information Technology, Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or other related fields.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated clear potential for creative, independent and collaborative research that would lead to strong extramurally-funded projects and national/international recognition. In order to obtain tenure, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research and service commensurate with rank.


We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in all aspects of SMART-Cities as it relates to travel and tourism (SMART-Destinations) (e.g., social media, predictive analytics, data mining, sharing economy, travel apps, online reservations/booking system interfaces, online itinerary builders, virtual tourism, application of e-commerce solutions, flight tracking systems, dynamic packaging, travel infrastructure-superstructure interfaces).
