Job Description

The University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications and nominations for the position of dean of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. This position reports to the provost and executive vice president.

Located in Orlando, UCF is one of the nation’s most dynamic metropolitan research universities. It is now seeking a leader for the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. The dean of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management is responsible for working with the faculty to foster excellence in research, education and outreach programs while continuing to reinforce the role of the college within the university and industry. The dean will foster strong working relationships with alumni and serve as the primary advocate of the college both internally and externally. As the leader of the college, the dean’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: fiscal management, strategic planning and academic programs. Ultimately, the dean will work to provide a nurturing and transformative environment that is committed to excellence in hospitality management education.

The next leader of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management shall possess:
• The ability to create and execute a shared vision that will make UCF the undisputed best hospitality management college in the world.
• The ability to inspire the college’s faculty and staff, university community, industry partners, donors and alumni of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management to give of their time and talent in pursuit of that shared vision.
• A working knowledge of the industry, its main challenges and strategic directions for the future that can best be evidenced by progressive positions of executive and/or managerial leadership in the hospitality industry or experience as a senior consultant to leading hospitality companies.
• Experience with developing forward-thinking curriculum and programs, including executive education as well as international partnerships, in hospitality and/or related fields.
• A commitment to student success in the classroom, timely degree completion, and the professional careers of our graduates.
• An appreciation for the mission of UCF and the university’s demonstrated commitment to diversity and access.
• Compassion and humility as a servant leader who will use these qualities to create a college culture that values everyone’s contribution to our success.

Position Minimum Qualifications

· A terminal degree in an appropriate discipline with the qualifications to hold tenure and the rank of full professor within the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.

· A history of academic administrative experience in higher education at the dean, associate dean, department chair or program director level.

· A minimum of 10 years work experience in higher education.
