Job Description

The Health Sciences program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a tenure-earning faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in Fall 2018; however, a start date of Spring 2019 may be possible as well. The Health Sciences program is within the Department of Health Professions, located in the College of Health and Public Affairs.

Applicants with research expertise and agendas that focus on population-based health research with emphasis on the clinical applications of pathophysiology, pharmacology and preventive medicine are especially encouraged to apply. We are interested in a candidate with a research agenda that does not require a wet laboratory. In addition to developing and maintaining a strong and well-funded research program, candidates are expected to actively participate in undergraduate education and student mentoring. Assignment will include teaching, research, service, and participation in other appropriate internal activities that contribute to the advancement of the program and department.

The Department of Health Professions also houses a baccalaureate program in Athletic Training and a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy. Health Sciences is among the largest majors at the university. Position Minimum Qualifications

An academic doctorate (Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent) in a health sciences-related discipline from an accredited institution is required by the start of the appointment; evidence of teaching experience in health sciences; and a record of research, peer-reviewed publications and scholarly activities.


Candidates who have either a demonstrated, or shown a clear potential for, developing a strong, non-wet laboratory based research program that would lead to extramurally funded research; previous experience teaching pathophysiology, pharmacology, clinically focused preventive health, or other related health science courses within a university setting; and evidence of student mentoring.
