Job Description

State Title: Director, Research Program/Services

VP of Technology will partner with the CEO and in collaboration with the business development and manufacturing teams to determine the products and platforms to be supported as the fabrication center evolves its capabilities. Develop and evolve the technology road map and will be responsible for optimizing the investments in capabilities to balance near term revenue and long term advanced capabilities. Define what gets built in the fab and subsequently what the Business Development team is taking into the market. Balance the need for short term revenue with the long-term relevance of the organization using exceptional skill in technical decision making. Grow and develop a technical team as supported by the growth of the business.

Work with Business Development, engineering and fab operations to execute the product and technical direction of BRIDG.

Leadership in the creation, maintenance and execution of BRIDG product and technology road-maps ensuring that BRIDG’s product and technical direction is competitive. Initial product emphasis includes Image Sensors (IR and THz), GaN based sensors and detectors, special application memory systems and Heterogeneous multi-dimensional Chip Integration.

Build and lead BRIDG’s engineering device and systems team.

Be a key participant and recognized speaker at technology conferences, customer meetings, and other partnership engagements of strategic importance to BRIDG.

As part of the BRIDG senior leadership team, be an active contributor to both strategic and tactical needs supporting business development and business operations teams.

Establish and lead a BRIDG technology advisory board.

Interface with industry, universities and national laboratories to be up to date with latest developments and to identify new business opportunities for BRIDG.

Write and present technical articles which create positive brand reputation for BRIDG.

Interact with BRIDG Fab Director to enable development of sound process technologies

Collaborate with key partners

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Preferences

Ability to help shape the vision and direction of a greenfield state of the art microelectronics fabrication center.

Ability to partner with the CEO and in collaboration with the business development and manufacturing teams, determine the products and platforms to be supported as the fabrication center evolves it’s capabilities.

Strong application background as well as proven leadership and in depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.

Charismatic and articulate presenter who can be the respected voice of the organization in technical forums.

The ideal candidate may currently be working in a large company or organization which operates a semiconductor fab or they may be a proven leader in a “fabless” entity who has previously worked in or with a fab such that the candidate has unquestionable knowledge of what it takes to design, develop, and produce medium to high volume microelectronic devices.

Credible reputation with industry, academia, and government customers.

Strategic thinker with ability to connect the dots with affiliates.

In-depth and current knowledge of semiconductor industry and technologies including but not limited to smart sensors & imagers, III-V and other novel materials for advanced sensors, optics / photonics / silicon photonics, advanced 3D packaging techniques and heterogeneous integration.

Experience with PDK and device library development, modeling/simulation/and design tools, reliability/test/evaluation, and defining design processes preferred.
