Job Description

The Department of Physics (https://sciences.ucf.edu/physics/) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, anticipated to start in August 2018, to add to their highly successful program in the newly established Institute for the Frontier of Attosecond Science and Technology (iFAST), http://ifast.ucf.edu/.

We seek candidates with research experience in experimental strong field laser-plasma physics, with emphasis on ultrafast laser-matter interaction at the relativistic intensities. Relevant research areas include coherent X-ray emission, electron and ion acceleration in relativistic laser-plasma, as well as their applications.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded, and creative research program and have a strong commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education.

The Department of Physics has 46 faculty, offers B.S., B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and is in a state-of-the-art research building. Research-active professors teach one course per semester. Position Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or in a closely related discipline from an accredited institution and a substantial record of independent research.
