Job Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a nine-month, tenure track assistant professor position in Ecoinformatics, anticipated to begin in August 2018. We seek a broadly-trained biologist who will use innovative approaches to develop a high-quality research program in ecoinformatics – defined broadly – and including, but not limited to: collection and organization of ecological data; manipulation, mining, and statistical modeling of such data, and use of geographic information systems (GIS).

The successful candidate will show promise of building a prominent and productive research program that addresses interesting and important questions related to environmental, ecological, and/or evolutionary processes across spatial and/or temporal scales. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with other disciplines is desirable. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability or strong potential to establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program, facilitate collaborations, and complement departmental strengths. They will be expected to contribute to teaching and mentoring students in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Software and database development can be considered toward tenure and promotion, akin to publications. Position Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a biological science and appropriate postdoctoral training is desired.
