Job Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director for the IT&R Business Center acts as budget liaison to the IT&R units. Plan implement, and track operating budgets under the Business Center’s authority. Will oversee budget for the University Libraries. May also manage budgets of other units within IT&R when requested. Collects and analyzes data as appropriate to implement strategies to maximize the use of funds. Prepare annual operating budgets for approval. Manage allocations and adjustments to the unit budget.

Manage the University Libraries operating and project related funds to include E&G, Auxiliary, C&G, and Foundation accounts, departments, and projects.
Manage appropriate billing, payments, journal transfers, budget transfers and reports.
Approves invoices for payment, pcard purchases, and authorizes departmental purchases
Tracks and distributes special appropriations accordingly
Manages and tracks chargebacks
Monitor and report budget and expense activities of the unit
Responsible for preparing and review of monthly, quarterly and annual account, sub ledger, and sub system reconciliations. Ensure reconciling items are updated timely and accurately.
Collect, analyze and concisely summarize accounting information to prepare internal financial reports for executive management on a regular and ad hoc basis.
Develops auxiliary charging algorithms for adequate revenue recovery.
Keeps unit informed on fiscal policies and procedural changes.
Maintains ongoing relationship with unit Director and acts as the main point of contact for the University Libraries
Acts as back-up to other Coordinator of Accounting staff when needed.
Works with accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
Creates and maintains accounting procedures.
Completes other analysis, research, and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements

- Accounting degree preferred
- Experience with Higher Education, state university system, or library accounting
- Experience with PeopleSoft
- Above average excel and reconciliation skills
