Job Description

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is hiring a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor of global modernisms with particular focus on American literature in transnational contexts. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of a productive research agenda and a strong commitment to teaching both face-to-face and online classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as the ability to teach a broad range of courses. The anticipated start date is August 2018 and will entail a 3/2 teaching load.

Position Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in English or a relevant field from an accredited institution by time of appointment; interest in multiple genres of the period; and successful teaching experience at the university level.


Strong record of publication; ability to teach broad literature surveys, introduction to critical theory, and focused electives, such as Major American Authors and World Authors; research and teaching interests in one or more of the following: nineteenth- and twentieth-century novel, Asian and/or Asian-American literature, digital humanities, and interdisciplinary approaches.
