Job Description

Under direct supervision, provide support for internal analysis teams such as the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT). Perform basic computer investigation, analysis, and security assessment. Assist in daily operations involving data management, end-user security requests, host and network-based security assessments and reporting, and incident response. Frequently reports to the Security Incident Response Manager or designee.

The ability to foster proactive and cooperative relationships within own team; as well as with individuals and groups outside own team

Knowledge of operational details in multiple operating systems

Ability to quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches

Ability to work meticulously with careful attention to detail

Perform monitoring data processing activities (e.g., security request forms) and respond to security events as appropriate

Play a supporting role within the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT)

Practice established procedures based on the security incident response plan

Interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences via both verbal and written communications (e.g., technical writing, requirements analysis.)

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

Additional Minimum Requirements


Knowledge of coordinating and conducting incident response activities

Knowledge of conducting technical analysis of and assessing the threat posed by vulnerabilities and malicious code (e.g., viruses, worms, root kits)

Knowledge of security technologies (e.g., vulnerability scanners, log correlation systems, encryption, firewalls, antivirus, etc.)

Knowledge of common classes of software vulnerabilities

Knowledge of common types of attacks against systems and networks

Effectively use existing incident response plan

Average time to detect, react and to resolve incidents

Show improvements in the security request processes
