Job Description

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Department of English is hiring (two) one-year visiting instructors or assistant professors of Technical Communication. The successful applicants will teach in the undergraduate Technical Communication B.A. track and in our graduate M.A. in Technical Communication. These are 9-month, non-tenure earning positions that are non-renewable. The anticipated start date is August 2018 and will entail a 3/3 or 4/4 teaching load, depending on rank.

Position Minimum Qualifications

An M.A. or ABD (for instructor) or a Ph.D. (for assistant professor) in English, Technical Communication, or a relevant field from an accredited institution; successful teaching experience at the university level.


Experience teaching technical communication; experience in online instruction; strong interest in one or more of the following areas: information architecture, usability studies, UX, digital humanities, rhetoric of science and technology, technical editing and style, ethical issues in technical communication, or related areas.

Special Conditions

Applicants applying to position 37282 will also be considered for position 38536.

Applicants who have previously served in a one-year visiting faculty appointment at UCF are not eligible.
