Job Description

The Resource Management, Business Office is seeking a qualified Accountant to provide accurate, timely, and reliable professional accounting services to the Facilities & Safety Departments.

Functions performed in this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Generate accounting reports to assist with expenditure tracking and funding availability;

Analyzes budget and expenditures in order to provide estimates to Facilities & Safety Directors, Associate Director as well as the immediate Supervisor for the Facilities & Safety Business Office;

Process invoices to ensure that vendors are paid in a timely manner to include the university utility vendors on behalf of Facilities & Safety;

Review and approve P-Card transactions for various Facilities & Safety Departments;

Reconcile Departmental Ledgers and provide back-up for processing purchase and change orders;

Prepare interdepartmental transfers and budget transfers as necessary;

Act as a back-up for petty-cash;

Record payments and make deposits as necessary;

Generate Accounting reports for the payout of Plant and Operations & Maintenance (PO&M).

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Prefer detail oriented individual with budget management experience and the ability to reconcile multiple budgets.

Prefer candidate with strong written and verbal communications skills.

Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven work environment.

Prefer candidate with proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft Financials.

Ability to work in a team environment, yet possess the ability to work independently and make financial decisions.

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
