Job Description

The Facilities Operations Department is seeking a qualified Roofer to perform the following tasks:

Roof repairs, inspections, and primary roof maintenance;

Single-ply roof membrane repairs utilizing hot air welding equipment;

Modified bitumen roof membrane repairs utilizing torches and cold adhesives;

Shingle repairs and flashing work on sloped roofs;

Sheet metal repairs on gutter, roofs and wall panels;

Inspect, repair, and maintain building envelope systems. Perform water testing on building envelopes and roof systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and one year of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of waterproofing sealants and application methods preferred.

Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools preferred.

Able to operate lifts, service vehicles, and power equipment.

Able to lift up to 80 pounds and climb ladders.

Able to use personal protective safety equipment as indicated in training and operational manuals; as well as directed by supervision

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
