Job Description

The Health Sciences program in the Department of Health Professions and the College of Health and Public Affairs at the University of Central Florida (UCF), invites applications for two full-time, nine-month tenure-earning faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor to begin in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019.

Applicants with expertise in population-based health research with emphasis on the clinical applications of human disease, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and/or preventive medicine are especially encouraged to apply. In addition to developing and maintaining a strong and well-funded research program, the selected candidates will be expected to actively participate in undergraduate education and student mentoring. Assignment will include teaching, research, service, and participation in other appropriate internal activities that contribute to the advancement of the program and department.

Position Minimum Qualifications

An academic doctorate (Ph.D., Dr.P.H., or equivalent) in a health sciences-related discipline from an accredited institution is required by the start of the appointment. Evidence of teaching experience in a health sciences-related discipline, a track record of research, peer-reviewed publications, and scholarly activities are also required.


Candidates who have either demonstrated or shown a clear potential for developing a strong, non-wet laboratory-based research program that would lead to extramurally funded research. Previous experience in teaching pathophysiology, pharmacology, clinically-focused preventive health, introduction to human disease, or other health sciences-related courses within a university setting, and evidence of student mentoring are also preferred.
