Job Description

This position will report to the Applications Systems Programmer Lead. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of new applications, develop procedures and policies for applications, and design, test, document, and code implementation of software applications.

  • Document application development procedures and policies
  • Implementation and maintenance of new applications.
  • Provide internet and intranet enhancements and development of web based applications for patients, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Responsible for the development, testing, documentation, and code implementation of utilities to convert data to specified formats.
  • Responsible for the enhancement and customization of vendor-based packages functionality with API.
  • Work with Medical Affairs staff, affiliated university entities and associated vendors to gather and assess system requirements for application development.
  • Document, develop, and implement security and access controls for supported web applications.
  • Utilize the highest technical level of expertise with various software and programming techniques to develop and maintain applications and their underlying databases. Tools include, but are not limited to ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of software and procedures to facilitate smooth integration between Medical Affairs systems and external systems that will provide Medical Affairs patients, students, faculty, staff, and administrators with easy and secure access to information.
  • Supports the Medical Affairs internal and external data collection and reporting needs.
  • Works with a team that builds cooperative relationships with the faculty, College of Medicine administration, biomedical researchers, university administration, and the off-campus health sciences community; and participates in local, state, regional, and national professional associations.
  • Other duties as assigned to include availability for conferences and training.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one year of information technology experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and two years experience in a related field.

Application development and database skills and knowledge.

Knowledge and experience designing and coding databases in SQL, Oracle, and/or other database applications.

Knowledge and experience if web application programming in ADO.NET, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, PHP, and XML web services.

Experience with supporting internal and external data requests.

Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse employee and user community and to work within a collegial environment; strong analytical and decision-making skills; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; and works effectively with professional colleagues.

Prefer a current knowledge and understanding of the data and information that is important to university academics, clinical research and clinical professionals.

MCTS and MCSD certifications preferred.
