Job Description

The Integrated Business (IB) Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks to fill an instructor or lecturer position. The teaching assignment will focus on the program’s newly developed, required Business Climate course, which focuses on strategic analysis of the impact of changes in macro-environmental factors on businesses using the PESTEL framework. This course will include a heavy emphasis on individual writing that incorporates visual display of information. The teaching assignment may include other courses in the IB program.

This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position to start August 8, 2018 (fall semester). The normal teaching load is four classes each fall semester and four classes each spring semester. While the primary assignment is at the UCF main campus, the selected candidate will be required to teach at two or more campuses each semester. Campus assignments could include the main (Orlando), Valencia West, Valencia East, Osceola, and/or Sanford/Lake Mary campuses.

The IB program employs a lead faculty member structure in which the content and structure of each course is developed and maintained by the lead. Instructors/lecturers are expected to focus on high quality course delivery and substantive student engagement. Instructors/lecturers also provide input on development of common assignment and assessments and changes in course content and structure. The IB program has adopted a flipped classroom approach in which face-to-face class time is used to actively engage students with course material and develop in them a range of soft skills.

Position Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree (for an instructor) or terminal degree (for a lecturer) from an accredited institution in a discipline closely related to strategic management, business strategy, business analysis, business communications, or organizational psychology. One year of full-time experience as a college instructor or the equivalent in part-time experience.


A demonstrated history of high quality teaching outcomes with regard to course delivery, student learning, grading discipline, and student perception. More than one year of teaching experience. Consulting experience in strategic management or business strategy across multiple industries. A record of academic or professional publication related to the impact of a change in the business climate on firms. Professional certification in an area related to business strategy, business analysis, business communications, or organizational psychology. Academic credentials and/or professional experience sufficient to qualify the candidate to teach other required classes in the Integrated Business program.

Special Conditions

The selected candidate will be required to teach at two or more campuses each semester. These campus assignments could include the main (Orlando) campus, Valencia West, Valencia East, Osceola, and/or Sanford/Lake Mary.
