Job Description

The Counselor Education program in the College of Education and Human Performance at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a dynamic individual with strong teaching, supervision, and interpersonal skills to join our program as a lecturer. The Counselor Education program has been ranked in the top ten Counselor Education programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report since 2007 and is the highest ranked degree program at UCF. Primary responsibilities for the lecturer position include teaching a variety of graduate level counseling courses, advising students, and supervising practicum and internship students. This position is located on the Orlando campus and is a non-tenure earning, 9-month appointment with benefits. Summer teaching may be available.

The Counselor Education program offers the following programs: master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.); Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy (M.A.); and School Counseling (M.A., M.Ed.); Educational Specialist Degree in School Counseling (Ed.S.); certificate programs in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy; Play Therapy; and Career Development; and doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Education—Counselor Education and Supervision.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.); Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy (M.A.); School Counseling (M.A.); and Counselor Education and Supervision (Ph.D.) programs are accredited by CACREP.

The College of Education and Human Performance employs about 125 full‐time faculty members serving approximately 5,700 students in 10 undergraduate programs and 25 graduate programs.

Position Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Counselor Education by time of employment (ABD will be considered as long as doctorate is completed by hire date).

A specialization in one or more areas appropriate to the program degree offerings (i.e., Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy; and/or School Counseling).

Experience in graduate level teaching and supervision.


An earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program.

Experience working as a practicing professional counselor.

Active membership(s) in professional organization(s).
