Job Description

The Utilities & Energy Services (UES) department is seeking a qualified Chilled Water Production Supervisor to perform the following functions:

Oversee all preventative maintenance and daily operations for four centrifugal chiller plants, to ensure campus heat load is met;

Ensure Mechanics respond to system failures, utilizing computers and smart phone technology. Oversee and assist Chiller Mechanics with scheduled maintenance;

Ensure all mechanical and electrical work is performed in a safe and effective manner;

Work as Team Supervisor during installation or repair of critical systems and auxiliary equipment;

Ensure all maintenance daily logs are completed and daily preventative maintenance documentation is entered timely and accurately in the University’s AiM data collection system;

Work with UES Planner/Scheduler to ensure all Mechanics have a full seven (7) hours of work daily in the AiM system;

Participate in water chemistry testing as needed to confirm contractual parameters are being met.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and appropriate experience to total seven years; or a high school diploma and seven years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/ technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for up to four years of the required experience If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Preferred candidate will have military mechanical training school, certificate in boilers or electronics, and/or equivalent vocational training.

Knowledge of hydronic systems, chilled water systems, and good electrical troubleshooting skills.

Knowledge of measuring instruments such as electrical multimeters, AMP meters, calipers, dial indicators, laser alignment tools, vibration analysis tools, and IR sensors.

Preferred candidate will possess proficient knowledge of computers and windows based programs.

Able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
