Job Description

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) is seeking applicants for a tenure track or non-tenure track (multi-year) appointment in the Department of Medical Education. The successful applicant will be expected to join an existing multi-disciplinary team of faculty and staff to teach gross anatomy, microanatomy, medical imaging, and embryology. The successful applicant will collaborate with both Basic Science and Clinical faculty to integrate and reinforce anatomical concepts throughout the curriculum. Development of independent scholarship as well as collaboration with other faculty members on research as principal or coinvestigator will be encouraged. The chosen applicant will also be expected to provide service to the educational programs at the college and university.

COM is an LCME-accredited medical college with an annual matriculation of 120 medical students. The college is located at the Lake Nona campus in a new medical education building with modern anatomy, histology and simulation laboratories as well as a state-of-the-art library. It is part of a broader biomedical cluster known as “Medical City” at Lake Nona which continues to develop just east of the Orlando International Airport. Dedicated to innovation in health and wellness, Medical City now hosts the UCF Health Sciences Campus, the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Nemours Children’s Hospital, the VA Medical Center Orlando, as well as the University of Florida’s Orlando Research and Pharmacy campus.

The development of a new Academic Health Sciences Center at Lake Nona will bring together related academic, clinical and research programs and services, and places COM in an excellent position to greatly expand inter-professional education and research, and improve care to clinical and eventually hospital patients. Position Minimum Qualifications

Applicants are required to have an M.D. or a Ph.D. in the anatomical sciences or related field, from an accredited institution. Applicants that apply with an M.D. degree must have experience in planning, implementing and assessing medical curriculum in these areas to medical students.

In order to be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor of medicine upon hire, the successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement, teaching experience and service commensurate with rank.


Applicants with additional experience in innovative educational practices, use of medical imaging for anatomy education, and prior experience teaching in an LCME-accredited medical school are encouraged to apply. Applicants with evidence of medical education excellence, innovation, and scholarship will be strongly considered, as will evidence of teaching effectiveness and teamwork (awards, etc.) and experience in the operation and management of a willed-body program.
