Job Description

Analyze, design, code, test, debug, integrate, modify, and document enterprise computer programs, web applications, web services, databases and reports using multiple programming languages and tools such as .NET, ColdFusion, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, AJAX, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), etc. Integrates data from university ERP systems (PeopleSoft, Payroll, ARGIS, Human Resources) into ORC databases to create Business Intelligence (BI) reports for the whole university personnel. Performs technical audits of new computer programs and applications to ensure they facilitate all business processes. Recommends enterprise hardware and software modifications to accommodate computer users’ needs, functions, and business processes. Install, monitor, and analyze the performance of multiple computer systems in the ORC Datacenter including backup systems, servers, specialized applications, security systems, Domain Name Systems and Windows Domain Controllers. Recommend policies and procedures for the continuous operation of all systems in data centers. Recommend and implement policies for designing and installing systems and procedures to assure: cyber-security of all data on the datacenter and (2) the ability to recover all datacenter data in case disaster strikes. Maintain Microsoft servers and services e.g. DNS, DHCP, AD, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, Print, Antivirus, etc. Design and update system and network architectures to meet functional requirements. Install, configure, migrate and maintain Microsoft/Linux servers. Manage backup of server infrastructure using Unitrends, and administer and maintain VMware vSphere clusters. Administer Windows Server’s Active Directory and local area network. Implement and maintain disaster recovery strategy for primary data center. Administer web server technologies including IIS, Apache and Tomcat. Works with ColdFusion. Monitors the performance and uptime of datacenter and network using tools like PRTG. Manages server configurations using group policies and related technologies. Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues. Research and install system/product updates. Manage antivirus solutions centrally, including Symantec Endpoint and Microsoft Forefront software suites. Manage server and desktop updates using Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Analyze and correct security controls for information systems using tools such as Nessus, NMap, BMSA, Acunetix. Safeguard the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction or disclosure. Assist in SQL Server profiling, database tuning, optimizations, and troubleshooting. Provide technical guidance to junior database/application programmers and systems administrators. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one year of information technology experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Position requires Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or closely related field and at least 1 year programming and application development experience (pre or post bachelor’s) in each of the following: developing database-driven application using ColdFusion, and javasScript; NET web applications programming and developing in MS SQL Server, including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.



Special Conditions

This position may require system releases, deployment and certain maintenance tasks to be performed after work hours or over the weekend.
