Job Description

The Facilities Operations Department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a vacant Maintenance Planner/Scheduler position.

The specific duties performed in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinate tasks essential to complete a job between zone supervision, work groups or trades, vendors, customers, University of Central Florida Inspectors, State of Florida Inspectors and other stake holders;

Generate work packages and schedules comprised of cost estimates, man-hour requirements, special skill requirements, drawings, manuals, special procedures, materials list, special tools or equipment’s, permit and inspection requirements, safety evaluation, and pre-job safety checklist;

Analyze schedule status and forecast of manpower availability; analyze and categorize work backlog;

Facilitate customer work review meetings through documentation and progress reports;

Manage custom reports to monitor and report on planned work progress by working with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS);

Provide the Facilities Operations leadership with data to improve the ratio of planned work to unplanned work with a target of zero breakdowns as well as work with appropriate stake holders to schedule utility and equipment shutdowns required to complete a project;

Track scheduled work hours and maintain planned work deadlines;

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and appropriate experience to total eight years; or a high school diploma and eight years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational or technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Possess three years of experience in planning/scheduling with proven ability to coordinate multiple jobs in a fast paced service or production environments.

Focus will be on scheduling experience.

Working knowledge of trades, housekeeping, classifications and functions including tools and materials, and task specific sequencing required for maintenance, repairs, and cleanings.

Prior use and interpretation of maintenance or facility maintenance union contracts and vendor contracts applicable to task assignments and schedule efficiencies.

Familiarization with safety rules and regulations for construction and trade work.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as interpersonal and customer service skills.

Able to analyze budgets pertaining to facility service organizations or maintenance organizations.

Able to assess appropriate skill level for each task to provide the most cost effective service.

Experience in large complex organizations with exposure in facility management.

Able to understand and use University of Central Florida design guidelines and policies during work planning.

Demonstrate work knowledge of local, state and federal regulations including Bureau of Fire Safety.

Demonstrate the use of various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office suits, and the CMMS in construction and estimating processes.

Experience with interpreting blueprints, specifications, and material and equipment take-offs.

Previous work in resource load balancing with short and long term planning in a maintenance organization.

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
