Job Description

The Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) within the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) seeks a Coordinator of Information/Publications Services to support the administrative services and web presence necessary to advance the production, recognition, community presence, and profile of the college’s online and print journal publications. At this time, CAH supports nine professional journals and four student publications.

The successful candidate will serve as liaison to CAH journal editors, coordinating the workflows associated with journal support, including but not limited to content management, copy editing and proofreading, layout, tracking of journal submissions and subscriptions, managing the print bid process when appropriate, electronic and information technology accessibility, social media marketing and promotion, and website design and updates. This position also provides direction, supervision, and advocacy for student interns and Graduate Research Associates assigned to support journal services, research, and technology in CHDR.

Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate use and training in publication, production, project management, and submission and subscription software to support advancement of CAH journals.
  • Maintain and design (as needed) CHDR and journal websites.
  • Design, develop, and conduct special studies to collect, track, and analyze data as appropriate to journal success and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to planning CHDR’s annual budget and forecast expenses necessary to provide administrative support to CAH’s academic journal publications.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements
Preferences
  • Proficiency using publication software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) and a working knowledge of content management software such as WordPress, including HTML and technical problem-solving ability for WordPress sites.
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and relevant tools such as Siteimprove and Wave.
  • Familiarity with various submission, subscription, project management, and tracking software.
  • Knowledge of copyright procedures, i.e. releases, mechanicals, and permissions.
  • Experience in digitization of visual resources and archives.
  • Knowledge of print production specifications and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and interact effectively with diverse people, groups, and organizations to achieve goals.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Public presentation skills for interacting with academic, student, and community audiences.
